A Founder's Journey: From Hair Loss to Soaked in Nature

Updated: Aug 1

I’ve always been proud of my long, thick, and naturally dense hair. It was what many would call “dream hair.” But beneath the surface, I was fighting a genetic battle. I inherited a predisposition to male pattern baldness from my father's side and female pattern baldness from my mother's, a dual challenge that made maintaining my hair's health a lifelong priority.

My journey with hair loss began in 2016, right after my son was born. Like many new mothers, I experienced postpartum hair loss, with thinning and visible bald patches that felt like I was losing a part of my identity. This was my first wake-up call. It was a stressful time, but it ignited a passion for finding a natural solution. After months of research and experimentation, I formulated a blend of hair oils and masks. With consistent use, I was able to regain my hair's thickness over the next few years, successfully fighting back against both the hormonal shifts and my genetics.

This success became the foundation for Soaked in Nature.

But in 2024, my journey took a much more aggressive turn. After the birth of my daughter, my hair began falling out in huge, massive clumps. Within just two weeks, my once-thick hair was dramatically sparse. Sleepless nights due to my daughter’s severe constipation, combined with the nutritional demands of breastfeeding, had taken a heavy toll on my body. It was a clear sign that I needed to take my research to the next level.

Understanding What Causes Hair Loss

Through my research, I've learned that hair loss in women, especially during and after pregnancy, is complex. It's often a combination of internal and external factors that affect both scalp health and hair strength:

  • Genetic Predisposition: For me, this was a critical factor. Genetics can make your hair follicles more sensitive to hormonal changes, leading to progressive thinning over time.

  • Nutritional Deficiencies: A lack of essential vitamins and minerals, especially iron and protein, can weaken hair.

  • Poor Hydration & Gut Health: These are foundational to overall health and directly impact the vitality of your hair.

  • Stress and Hormonal Changes: The drastic hormonal shifts of pregnancy and postpartum, combined with stress, are major triggers for hair loss.

  • Environmental & Lifestyle Factors: Pollution, heat styling, and harsh chemical products can disrupt the scalp’s delicate balance.

Our scalp naturally produces sebum to keep hair hydrated, but this balance is easily disrupted, leaving hair dry, brittle, and prone to falling out.

Turning to Nature: The Role of Hair Oiling

My initial discovery and success came from returning to a time-tested practice: natural hair oiling.

After months of trial and error, I created a blend of cold-pressed oils, herbal infusions, and essential oils known for their healing and nourishing properties. This was the original formula that helped me regain my hair after my first bout of alopecia.

Consistent use led to incredible results:

Less hair loss and shedding

New baby hair growth and a fuller hairline

Shinier, stronger strands with fewer split ends

A healthier, balanced scalp, free from irritation

This is the very heart of Soaked in Nature’s Hair Oil and Hair Mask—crafted to restore what modern life strips away.

Story goes further...

My second experience with aggressive hair loss was the push I needed to create a complete, synergistic routine. A simple oil and mask were not enough to combat the severity of my hair fall.

My new shampoo and conditioner are the culmination of years of research, designed to work together with my original formulas to provide a holistic solution.

My journey taught me that a calm, balanced scalp is the foundation of healthy hair. Soaked in Nature was born from a place of vulnerability and a deep need for a solution that was both effective and gentle. My story is a testament to what's possible when you refuse to accept hair loss, even when genetics are stacked against you.

If you’re battling hair loss or simply want to return to a more natural, nurturing haircare routine, I hope my story inspires yours. Let Soaked in Nature's botanical blends bring life back to your hair—gently, lovingly, and naturally.

A Complete Routine for Scalp Health

Here is a step-by-step routine designed to rebalance your scalp, soothe irritation, and nourish your hair using the Soaked in Nature range.

Step 1: Overnight Scalp Prep with Hair Tonic (The night before wash day)

Use the tonic to prep your scalp and allow the active ingredients to work overnight, setting the stage for a healthier scalp.

  • How to apply: Use the pipette to apply a few drops of the Hair Tonic directly to your scalp. Part your hair and apply the tonic in sections, then use your fingertips to gently massage it in.

  • Why it works: Ingredients like Caffeine, Niacinamide, and Peppermint Essential Oil help stimulate the scalp, reduce inflammation, and regulate oil production.

Step 2: Deep Nourishment with Hair Oil or Mask (The morning of wash day)

The next morning, apply either your Hair Oil or Hair Mask as a pre-wash treatment. Leaving it on for a few hours is ideal for deep conditioning and dissolving excess sebum.

  • How to apply: Gently massage the Hair Oil or Hair Mask into your scalp and then work it through to the ends of your hair.

  • Wait time: While even 20-30 minutes is beneficial, leaving it on for a few hours provides the best results. The "oil dissolves oil" principle will gently lift and dissolve buildup.

  • Why it works: The Hair Oil (with grapeseed, hemp seed, and jojoba oils) effectively breaks down excess sebum. The Hair Mask (with shea butter, sweet almond oil, and virgin coconut oil) offers intensive moisture to soothe the scalp and hair.

Step 3: Cleanse and Condition

Now it's time to cleanse away the buildup and product. This step is about effective cleaning without stripping the scalp.

  • Shampoo: Rinse the oil or mask out with lukewarm water. Use your Shampoo and massage it into your scalp. If your hair feels particularly oily, a second shampoo may be beneficial. The gentle cleansers like Decyl Glucoside will get the job done without over-drying.

  • Conditioner: After rinsing the shampoo, apply your Conditioner to the lengths and ends of your hair, avoiding the scalp. This provides hydration and makes your hair soft and manageable. Rinse thoroughly.

Step 4: Post-Wash Moisture and Shine

Once your hair is towel-dried, you can use the hair oil again as a finishing serum.

  • How to apply: Take just a few drops of the Hair Oil and rub it between your palms. Gently smooth it through the mid-lengths and ends of your damp hair.

  • Why it works: This final step locks in moisture, adds shine, and tames any frizz or flyaways without weighing down your hair.

This comprehensive routine provides a systematic approach to scalp health. It uses the tonic to rebalance, a pre-wash treatment to cleanse and nourish, and a post-wash oil to protect and style. This method will help you effectively manage an oily, itchy scalp with consistent results.
