Haircare for curly hair

Updated: Aug 1

The key behind caring for curly hair is to remove harsh products and build up that could be damaging to hair. If the hair is healthy with enough protein and moisture then it will naturally curl better. The better condition your hair is, the better it will naturally curl.

Reset Your Hair

To begin, it is important to first reset your hair. For this, use a clarifying shampoo to cleanse away any silicone left on the hair. This will prepare your curls for a fresh start.

Pre-Wash & Deep Conditioning

Before your wash day, use our nourishing treatments to restore your hair.

  • The Night Before (Hair Tonic): To prep your scalp for deep conditioning, apply our Hair Tonic directly to your scalp the night before you wash. The active ingredients will help to stimulate follicles and balance your scalp.

  • Wash Day (Hair Oil or Hair Mask): The next morning, apply either a Hair Oil Serum or Hair Mask from Soaked in Nature.

    • Use the Nourishing Hair Oil Serum on your scalp.

    • Do this at least twice a week. For extra conditioning, wrap your head with a head cap, bag, or towel to keep it in the warmth.

    • For an intensely deep conditioning treatment, use our Hair Mask at least once every two weeks.

The Wash Routine

A balanced wash routine is essential for maintaining healthy curls.

  • Wash with Shampoo: Gently cleanse your scalp with our Shampoo to remove any buildup. Focus on massaging the scalp to ensure a thorough clean without stripping your natural oils.

  • Condition with Care: After rinsing the shampoo, apply our Conditioner generously to the lengths and ends of your hair. This is the ideal time to detangle your curls. Use a hair brush (not a comb) to gently brush your hair while it is wet and coated in conditioner. Leave the conditioner on for a few minutes to allow the ingredients to work before rinsing.

Leave-In & Styling

  • Leave-In Hair Oil Serum Treatment: Once you have rinsed your hair, while it's still wet, apply a few drops of our Nourishing Hair Oil Serum to the hair strands, avoiding the scalp. It is important to do this step when the hair is wet to lock in moisture. To do this, flip your hair forward and scrunch your hair by cupping and squeezing the strands in your palms—this helps in removing frizz.

  • Plop Hair Before Drying: For this, use a microfiber towel or a t-shirt. Position your wet hair upside down and gently wrap. Keep this on for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Do not use a fluffy towel, as it could cause frizz.

  • Dry Your Hair Naturally: When this is not possible, use a curly hair drying diffuser.
